Hello again, today were going to take a look at immune Boosting Teas. We all know that we should eat healthy (easier said than done), get plenty of exercise and rest. One easy way to help your body’s immune system keep up is with immune boosting teas. Supporting your immune system with natural remedies isn’t new. Now more than ever, finding easy, affordable, delicious ways to pump up your inner defenses is essential. Here are a few great teas to check out.
Chaga tea, is made from the Chaga mushroom, which grows mainly on the bark of birch trees in cold climates. It looks similar to a clump of burnt charcoal, and has a soft core inside that is an orange color. You might think tea made from that ugly thing, can’t possibly taste good. I have to admit I wasn’t sure I’d like it myself. However, it is quite rich in flavor and goes well with honey. For centuries, the Chaga mushroom has been used as a traditional medicine mainly to boost immunity and overall health. It has also been used to treat diabetes, certain cancers, and heart disease.
Elderberry Tea is made from Elderberries, which are the fruit of the Sambucus tree.
Native Americans and European herbalists have long used elderberries for their health benefits. These include boosting the immune system to help the body fight off colds, flu, and other respiratory infections. Elderberry fruit contains high levels of flavonoids, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These help to protect healthy cells from harmful free radicals. Elderberries also contain many vitamins and nutrients that can benefit health. These amazing little berries help prevent constipation, improve bowel function, protect against colorectal cancer, reduce blood pressure, help with cardiovascular disease, and lower blood cholesterol.
Astragalus tea is made from the root of a pea plant found in northern China, Mongolia and Korea. Astragalus root has been used for thousands of years as an immune-booster. Also known as an adaptogen, it boosts the adrenal system, which manages the body’s hormonal response to physical, mental or emotional stresses. The root also has an abundance of antioxidants, which as we discussed in the Elderberry tea, protects cells against free radicals that can damage the cells. In addition, it has been found to have several anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Check with your doctor if you take lithium or drugs that suppress the immune sysyem.
